UGANDA DEVELOPING CRITICAL ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE TO SUPPORT OIL PRODUCTION
Masindi/ Kisanja Park, Tangi & Paraa — Buliisa roads project [159km]. Set to support Oil Production in the Albertine region. It crosses Murchison Falls National Park — a major tourist destination covering about 3,893km and home to several mammal and bird species.
Uganda discovered commercially viable oil deposits in the Albertine Graben region in 2006 and has since embarked on establishing effective management procedures to promote growth and development for the country. By the end of 2013, Uganda’s proven oil reserves were estimated by the Ugandan Petroleum Exploration and Production Department to be 3.5 billion barrels, which are expected to yield at least $2 billion per year for 30 years once oil production commences.
